Continuing Education
- One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is equivalent to 50 minutes of classroom learning.
- Nearly all state regulatory boards that require entry-level training for private investigator applicants also require licensed investigators to obtain CEUs as evidence of self-development through continuing education, with proof (Certificate of Completion) submitted at time of license renewal.
- The number of CEUs required varies from state to state. The number per year is typically six or eight. Evidence of CEUs attained is submitted to the state regulatory board by the private investigator with his or her application for license renewal every year or every two years.
- The state regulatory board approves instructors and/or schools that award CEUs. The Learning Shop USA, which conducts online instruction only, is approved in Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Carolina and Arizona.
- CEUs are typically obtained in any of three methods: classroom, workshop and online. In terms of cost, convenience and learning quality, online training is superior.
- The length of time required to complete an online course is dependent on the private investigator’s experience and work ethic.
- The Comprehensive Private Investigation Course, i.e., the mandatory course to obtain a private investigator license in Georgia, can be completed in ten days.
- At Learning Shop USA you can choose from more than 30 CEU courses covering nearly every private investigator function.
